Two steps forward, one step back

I have phased out meat completely. That's a good thing. I'm eating mass amounts of veggies. Experimenting with different ways to prepare veggies. That's also a good thing.

But...

My goal was to go VEGAN. So far, only vegetarian. Shit.

I will continue to make a strong effort to phase out all animal products. For example, I'm very interested in learning more about the fine art of vegan baking. Have you seen some of the vegan cupcake recipes that are out there?? Yum...

But, as for going Vegan all of the time...ain't gonna happen...not yet anyway.

I just can't seem to let go of butter or parmasean cheese.

Oh well...not giving up yet. Vegan is still an attainable goal. It just may take me longer than I originally thought.

So, in the meantime, I'm going to change my header. Boo.

Are you kidding me? It's a huge achievement just to go vegetarian. You should really congratulate yourself on that. Maybe my opinion is coloured by the fact that I've been a vegetarian for 20 years... I know I just couldn't do vegan full time. I just couldn't handle the hassles eating out, the fact that my family wouldn't cope, and most of all, I couldn't make the sacrifices. If I was a vegan I would've lasted 6 months. Vegetarian? That's lasted me 20+ years.

OMG. The first post I read? TOTALLY describes me. I'm really trying to go vegan but I can't seem to let go of cheese and butter!! I haven't had meat since Jan. 1 though, so I guess that's a good start!

Sarah: you're so right. I should be proud! Damn proud! And I am, I just thought that vegan wouldn't be that hard.

Traci: Welcome! And yes, butter and cheese!! Funny thing is, before going veg, I didn't eat much butter or cheese!

I went veggie pretty quicly, but vegan is TOUGH. I tired doing one vagan meal a day, and that's a lot easier. Just go at your own pace. My love affair with cheese did me in unfortunatly. But Seriously you're making really good progress. I was a french fry vegetarian, but you're actually trying to cook new dishes that are actually healthy! Keep it up. I may have some veggie books stashed away if you need some motivation.

Woah! I SO LOVE MY RED MEAT. I know. It is a heart attack waiting. What can I say - midwest girl. I also LOVE my veggies. I could NEVER go vegan unless doctor so and so said my life or my kids life depended on it. No cheese? NO WAY!
